We want to say, "Thank You!" for all your support with our chicken endeavor. On May 29th we took 82 pullets to the processor. Processor mornings come early…. 2:15AM to be exact. At that time the rooster hasn't even thought about crowing yet ;). By the time we load all of the chickens into crates and get them from their house and into the trailer it is 3:30AM and our 2 1/2 hour journey begins. We have to be at the processor right around 6AM due to USDA regulations. After the chickens have been plucked, cut up, and cooled down to around 40 degrees the packaging can begin. The cool thing is we can help! Moma and I got to clean gizzards, liver, hearts, feet, and necks and put them into bags. It was a fun experience! Our chickens were ready to come home around 2:00PM. Thanks to you I am proud to announce we have 120 more baby chicks growing right now. They will be ready in about 4 1/2 weeks.
In other news the garden has started bearing vegetables which we will have available for sale sometime soon. If you need any type of beef for the grill for a weekend get-together or the Fourth of July keep us in mind. Stay hydrated and cool this summer and we hope to see you soon.
