"Three Little Piggies Went to the Market"

    Hey y'all!

Its been a couple months since I last updated and a lot has been going on. For one our new chicken house is almost complete. Last year we were only able to raise one batch of 150 chicks every 8 weeks and during market season we would run out of chicken before the next group was ready for processing. With the new house this problem has been eliminated!

This is something we are very excited about! It is equipped with 4 separate stalls which can hold 200 chicks each and automatic waterers (we are still working out a few kinks with these) which will save us a lot of time. Hopefully we can process every 4 weeks or even every 2 weeks depending on demand. So far it is housing 0ver 600 chicks, and to think it all started with a hen named Henrietta a little over 8 years ago.

We took the first chicken batch of the year to the processor at the end of April. We are using a new processor located in Hopkinsville, KY and we are very pleased with their work.
Pictured below is one of our lovely cornish cross pullets.

Our second and third groups of chickens have also arrived. I must say its a fun experience picking up so many chicks from the post office. ;)

In addition to the chicks the turkey poults will be shipping May 17th so be on the lookout for pictures! Be mindful that we have a minimal amount of turkeys available for Thanksgiving therefore if you want one please preorder.

Many of you have been asking for more eggs to be available. Although I can't make the hens lay more I can add to their numbers...

It will be 4-6 months before they begin laying, but once they start there will be plenty eggs for everyone!

IT'S MARKET SEASON...yea well kinda. So far The Greene Street Market and The Providence Market have begun. For a full list of the markets we will be attending Click here
NOTE: Beginning in June our home shop will only be open on Fridays from 10-5 or by appointment.

Remember the garden plants I talked about in the last blog? Well they have grown so much! I must say it has been a learning experience especially when trying the get them adapted to living outside instead of in my home. Overall the garden is growing and we will have fresh veggies available sometime around the beginning of June.

Coming soon: Cornish hens and goat meat!
Many people have asked asked about goat and soon we will begin offering it (more to come). Also, a lot of people like whole birds but not 4 pound whole birds, or live by themselves and can't eat a whole big bird so to help meet this need we will be raising cornish hens.

As far as beef goes all of our moma cows and babies are doing well. We have had many spring calves born these last couple months and they are running around happy and healthy.

Within the next two weeks we will be accepting SNAP/EBT as a form of payment! We are still in the process of getting the proper equipment so if you're planning to pay this way check with us before you come to ensure we can accept it.

As always thanks for your patronage. From our family to yours, God bless.
